Air Balancing Boilers
An air balancing boiler is not a standalone type of boiler, but rather refers to the process of air balancing within a commercial HVAC system that includes a boiler as a key component. In commercial buildings, boilers are often used to provide heating by circulating hot water or steam through a network of pipes and radiators or air handlers. Air balancing, in this context, ensures that the heated or conditioned air is distributed evenly and efficiently throughout the building.
What Is Air Balancing?
Air balancing is the process of testing, adjusting, and optimizing an HVAC system to ensure that the correct amount of air is delivered to each space. This includes regulating airflow through the system’s ductwork, dampers, vents, and air handlers. When a boiler is part of the HVAC system—especially in systems using hydronic air handlers—air balancing is crucial to ensure each zone receives the correct volume of heated air.
